The 50 Ton Challenge

Talking to J.Nyx this morning about how we are moving 20,30 or even 40,000 pounds of weight every day and still only in the first week of the first phase, and it got me to thinking — why not do some more. Why not make it a challenge? Why not make it for charity.

So I wanted to gauge some interest here before doing the leg work.

This memorial day I am thinking of doing a Team WB Charity Fundraiser to raise money for the Wounded Warrior project. It would be a lifting marathon of sorts and we would be looking to have people sponsor us the way marathon runners do for charity.

The only difference between a marathon and a WB challenge is that we do not run, we move weight. The amount of weight we will move is 100,000 pounds each.

I would love to get this to happen and then have an after party. Anyone who sponsors a WB Challenge athlete will have 100% of their donation go to charity.

Right now I am gauging interest. If I find there is sufficient interest I will send an email to the people at The Wounded Warrior Project. JNYX will talk to J&J style about getting t-shirts. I will speak to some people at my gym about waving guest fees on daily passes for people who are joining the challenge (this is something my gym has done in the past for similar fund raisers) and we will start getting some messages out to the online fitness community about the project.

So let me know in the comments or message me on telegram to let me know if this is something you guys would be seriously interested in.

It’s 2 months away, so there is plenty of time to get in proper shape to go hit the gym for a 100,000 pound lift. After all, on occasion, 50 Tons Happen.
