FITNESS, INSPIRATION, PROGRESS

I Fucked Up (Kinda)

Wow, been a long time. I have so much to say in today’s post so bear with me.

First and foremost I want to mention that today’s post is the 200th post on Team WB Fitness. 200 posts! So, ya know, that’s kinda cool.

So where have we been? It has been a long time since posts and there are several reasons. It has been a grueling season, life gets in the way and, to be frank, most of what needs to be said has already been said.

I originally created this site because I wanted to get back to fundamentals. It is my belief that bodybuilding was pretty much perfected back in the golden age. However, as it became a billion dollar business it was important for people to have something new to say.  Because of this, decades went by with people talking so much shit just so they could say something new that they diluted the very basic concepts of bodybuilding that helped guys like Arnold and Sergio and Zane get into absolute ideal form.

I do not want that to happen to this site. If we struggle to put out content every day that means we need to keep creating stuff which will dilute the original and, I believe, important ideals that this site was founded on.

That said, it has been too long. Even from the perspective of creating a community for the team, there needs to be more and it is one of the many things we will be working on going forward (see below).

Ok, so with just under a month left this is where I am. My most recent (2 days ago) body analysis

Nothing like starting the season right — by having your lats tear through a dress shirt when you yawn.

report has me at 205.9 lbs with a skeletal muscle mass of 111.8 lbs and a body fat mass of 14.3 pounds clocking me in at 7% body fat with a Basal Metabolic Rate of 2246 kcal.

I must say, I am very much disappointed in these numbers. Now, before you get all crazy on me — yes, I am aware that these are fantastic fitness numbers especially considering my age and the fact that I have a stressful job and responsibilities outside of the fitness world. That said, I set goals for myself and did not reach them. Admittedly, I am only slightly off but here is the problem. Had I hit a physical wall and simply could not achieve my goals I would be ok with it, but that is not what happened. I drank and ate too much and let too much external bullshit effect my head. Had I not done this I would have smashed my goals a month ago rather than being here now missing them even if just by a little bit.

If only I could see the world through tinted glass all the time

In the 10 years that I have been actively body building and the 7 that I have been doing it seasonally, this has been, hands down, my worst season and the only way to make that palatable is to take the lessons from it and make sure it never happens again

So what do we do? We analyze what went wrong and work on fixing it for next season. Let’s take a look at what went wrong.

  • I didn’t do Cost Benefit Analysis with the things in my life to the degree that I ought to have.

Here is something that is important for you guys to remember: if you have a bucket of clean, crystal clear water and you put shit in it you will NOT get clean shit you will get dirty water. Because of this, it is important to weigh the cost and benefit of everything in your life. This drink.

Sometimes it is important to stop and seriously contemplate whether or not what you are doing is worth it for you. Remember, you always need to be the most important thing in your life.

This food. This time sleeping. This conversation. This person. This activity. So on and so forth. When you are about to order a drink or you are in the middle of a conversation you need to ask yourself “what is this costing me and is it worth while.” If something is going to make that time in the gym harder either physically or mentally you need to understand and decide if it is worth while. In essence, you need to prioritize yourself. I am really going to try, going forward in the off season and again next season to constantly ask myself of everything I do and of everyone I speak to “what is the cost of this and what is its value.” Someone has to prioritize you and if you don’t do it no one else will. Always remember, you and your goals come before anything and anyone else in this world. Sometimes that will be difficult and you might feel bad about it or feel like you are missing out, but remember time is fleeting, you only have so much time to be happy about yourself and that has to be more important than anything or this won’t work.

  • Failures with the program itself.

I was, and remain, very proud of the Toxic Masculinity program, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t have its flaws. The chief flaw in the program came from my excitement. I put it all in there. I didn’t hold back. Every trick and tip and bit of magic and mad

It isn’t all bad, but there is still a lot of work to be done.

science I’ve learned over the last decade of bodybuilding was in there. This lead to lifting sessions that were often 3 or more hours long and that didn’t even include the cardio. Next years program, which I am already designing, will be a far more targeted ordeal. I am going to try to shorten the workouts so that I don’t have to split sessions. Ideally, weights + Abs + cardio will be less than 3 hours total. I have a whole off season to work on it and I promise you I will deliver something special for you next year.

Speaking of next year, I mentioned that I am at 205.9 pounds and 7% bodyfat. This is my promise to the Team: if I can’t get that down to 200 and the body fat to at least 5 I will train anyone and everyone for free next season including daily talks through telegram, the full program, personal customization, diet plans and everything that goes with WB. I want to hold myself just as accountable as I do you, so the race is on and if I can’t put out a product closer in line with the goals I set I will make sure that everyone trains one season for free….so for you guys who have sat on the outside for whatever reason, this is the time!

  • Community

Last year the Team WB Community was very strong. Comments on this site, messages on telegram, accountability checks every morning, discussions of form and creative ways to hit muscle and over

Sometimes when that Bodybuilder dysmorphia kicks in it is good to accidentally catch yourself in the mirror and wonder “who the fuck is that?”

all inspiration were on point. This year, because of various things going on in our own lives, we have slacked a bit on that and, I believe, it is to my detriment if not everyone’s. Having spoken to J.Nyx we are going to recommit for the community for next year and start firing on all cylinders again.

Ok, well, those are the areas where I believe the most damage was done. That said, there was a lot of good. First and foremost, while this program does need tweaking in order to take into account that Team WB Fitness is not made up of people who have nothing to do outside of the gym, the theory behind the program was excellent and I am so proud of everyone who made it through these insane workouts.

Even if the Toxic Masculinity program wasn’t an ideal set up for us, the fact that we have broken through all 8 phases says a lot about the strength, will and intensity of the members of this team..a team that I hope continues to grow and succeed.

So what now?

Stay Savage

Well, I am going to make a few more WB posts regarding equipment and gear reviews for stuff I used this season and then a recap for the end and then we will be taking a break for the rest of the year. The 2020 season is something I look forward to already and if you want in I want you to seriously start thinking about it now.

One difference is that every team member will be putting goals and achievements online to keep ourselves accountable. I m excited to write this new program as I feel that while the Toxic Masculinity program fell short in some ways, one thing it did was teach me more than any one thing ever has before and I am just full of jam to create and execute the next phase.

A little less than a month and then we can take our break team, but for now keep that energy high and GRIND ON!
